Mahmehr Golestaneh was born in Tehran, Iran in 1935.
She began her higher education in the field of law
but changed later to mural design. Her university
training was completed in London in 1966, with First
Class Honors.
On return to Iran, she designed two fresco works
(mosaic and glass) in the Opera House of Tehran (Talar
Rudaki), interior/exterior and mural designs for Korosh
Hotel in Shiraz, and the complete design for the 24-story
building of the Ministry of Agriculture. Other artworks
were commissioned by many banks and private buildings.
Mahmehr lectured at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts
in Tehran while continuing her independent artwork.
Her artistic talents were also expressed in the literary
forms of poetry and history. In 1979, she left Iran
and now resides in the United States of America. Her
literary works on the history of art and Iran have
been published in many different media. Since 1979
her art has been exhibited nationally and internationally
in 37 private and group exhibits.
She continues her work in the media of ceramics,
tiles, copper, enamel, etc. She is also an author
of several books including "A Tribute to the
Faithful" and "The Immortal Phoenixes".
